Ami Dar is the founder and executive director of Idealist. Built in 1996 with $3,500, Idealist.org has become one of the most popular nonprofit resources on the web, with information provided by 100,000 organizations around the world and millions of visitors every month. Ami was born in Jerusalem, grew up in Peru and in Mexico, and lives in New York. Ami became an Ashoka Fellow in 2004, and is a Board Chair Emeritus of NTEN - the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network. He was awarded the Stern Family Foundation's Public Interest Pioneer grant in 2000 & 2001, and was named one of the 50 most influential people in the nonprofit world by Nonprofit Times in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Abby Graf Subak is the Organizing Directory at Idealist.org, working to increase individuals ability to impact the world for social good and supporting the volunteer-organizers of Idealist Days around the world. She has committed her entire career to mission-focused, social impact initiatives. She has worked directly on issues including the environment, democracy, women’s issues, the arts, and philanthropy, to name just a few. Her work over the past 25 years is tied together by her belief that individuals can - and must be - effective change agents in their communities and the world, and that together, we can create a society that benefits everyone.
