On February 20, 2020, Napa Valley takes over New York City with Sideways the Experience, Rex Pickett’s critically acclaimed novel turned Academy Award-winning film adapted for the stage. If you missed the movie, struggling writer and wine enthusiast Miles takes his best friend, Jack, on a trip to California wine country for one last bonding adventure on the eve of Jack's wedding. The Sideways Experience creates an immersive (on stage) pre-show wine tasting event similar to ones discovered along the Napa Valley wine trail, as depicted in the novel and film. Gourmet food from celebrity caterer Mary Giuliani and premium wine from Vanessa Conlin and Wine Access will be served as part of the exclusive first act of this unique theatrical experience-which is exactly why we're sitting down to coffee with these two ladies.
Vanessa is a Stage 3 Master of Wine candidate. She has worked in the wine business for 12 years, serving as the Director of Sales and Marketing for several of Napa’s most prestigious luxury estates including Arietta Wines, Dana Estates, and Realm Cellars. Prior to falling in love with wine, Vanessa worked as a professional musician, performing internationally and on Broadway, and holds a Master’s Degree in Music.
When the finest names in art, fashion and entertainment want to host a standout event, they call our other guest, Mary Giuliani. She's an Author, Party and Lifestyle expert, and owner of Mary Giuliani Catering and Events and Giuliani Social.

On February 20th, Napa Valley takes over NYC with Sideways the Experience at the Pecadillo Theatre Company - yes, that Sideways of Paul Giamatti hates Merlot fame. Why's it an experience, you ask? If you're a VIP, your evening includes delicious food from celebrity caterer Mary Giuliani and fabulous wine pairings from Vanessa Conlin, Head of Wine at Wine Access. In honor of their opening, we're sitting down to coffee (maybe vodka?) to talk all things Sideways, what Mary, a graveyard and a Ferris Wheel have in common, how Vanessa went from Broadway performer to wine expert and what the heck BLICCA means, and why it might help you.
